In February 2025, after fundraising the cost of $27,500, North Island Choral Society took delivery of new risers manufactured by STAGING CANADELL LTD in Saskatoon.
There are 4 tiers of risers which cover an area of 12′ x 24′, with customizations for the stage of St George’s United Church in Courtenay.
There are 17 6-foot sections, 33 inches wide. Disassembled, the platforms with legs and fittings fit on three carts, and railings fit on a fourth cart. All are stored in the basement of St George’s United Church.
No power tools are needed for assembly.
The risers are available for use by other performing organizations in the Comox Valley. Currently they are only for use in St. George’s United Church. Use in other venues is a possibility in the future, when equipment and policies for transport have been established. Rental charges have yet to be decided upon, but at a minimum there would be an $80 damage deposit.
