Hello to our current and past singers:
I am leaving the President position at the AGM in March after 8 years of service. And I feel very privileged to have stumbled into this job. One I had little clue about when I started. It has given me hundreds and hundreds of unimaginable pleasures year after year. And that has included my involvement in the performing arts world of the Comox Valley. But it is time to step back a bit.
We must have someone covering the President position to carry on the operations of the Society. If not there will be no choir in the Fall. The Board will wind down after the April concerts, pay the necessary expenses, and then rest until a President can be found.
It is an ideal time to come aboard. NICS is at the top of its game with one amazing accomplishment after another. The Board is an experienced and effective working group. We get along! I will carry on 90% of the jobs I do now behind the scenes for at least a year. And I will be Treasurer into the future. The role for the new person at first is to join our next meetings, hear what we each do, see how we look at agenda setting and with my help set up the meetings post April. Then by Sept be the official voice of NICS, or delegate, as necessary.
Ideally we would like someone who is in the choir or has been in the choir. If no candidates come forth however we will advertise farther afield. There may be individuals who want to experience a Charitable Non Profit Board and we would together teach them about our choir and about the performing arts world.
