—–Seventy of you have signed up for NICS Spring term 2026 and we are delighted. Julie is on a leave until September, and we are so grateful that Elvera is stepping in.
—–We will start REHEARSALS for NICS Goes to the Proms on Tuesday January 13 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at Comox Valley Presbyterian Church. The St George United Church – based concerts are April 24 and 25. Dress Rehearsal on April 23. Of course, you will eventually join the orchestra at Comox United on Sunday afternoons. Most likely on March 29.
—–No decisions have been made about SECTIONALS yet. Jo-Anne, Elvera, and Paul will decide what is needed as January progresses.
—–We have RENTED some of the music this term. Some from Island Voices and some from the Victoria Choral Society. The rental is 20% of the cost of a brand-new copy and this is very cost effective for us. So please treat these well: only light erasable pencil marks.
—–We are still processing the SURVEY RESULTS with twenty-two returns. There is still time to reply and if you have lost the link just contact Ruth. We are looking carefully at the feedback and reporting to you.
—– We were grateful last term that singers were conscious of maximizing their ATTENDANCE at the rehearsals and sectionals. Holiday leaves were kept to a minimum, and absences were reported to Ruth via our contact page on the website. The more we commit to attendance at rehearsals the better the ensemble we create and the more we honor the hard work of Paul and Elvera in preparing us to ‘wow’our audiences.
—– Ruth (S) advanced our WEBSITE over many years and then Matthew (B) took it on last year and there have been ongoing improvements. Thank you both. It is your go to place for INFORMATION and PRACTISE MATERIAL. But as usual. Ruth and I are up for questions.
